Review: Pavillon De La Reine, Paris
I stayed at the gorgeous Pavillon De La Reine booked through Small Luxury Hotels which is located on the Place des Vosges a stone’s throw away from Le Marais. This is the perfect location because some of the best boutiques and restaurants are on your doorstep. This is particularly useful for a weekend break when time is precious and you have a jam-packed schedule. The 17th-century residence is hidden just off the square, clad in greenery and Christmas lights. There is a pretty flower-filled courtyard and guests are welcome to take out the complimentary bikes. Aside from the shops you can cycle over to the Victor Hugo and Picasso Museum which are both nearby. The hotel has a relaxing lounge by the reception and an indulgent spa on the lower ground floor. The rooms are extremely cosy and after a day’s sightseeing having a hot chocolate by the fire or a power nap in their cloud-like beds is heavenly. I missed out on trying their newly opened restaurant but apparently the chocolate soufflé is a must. I did, however, take full advantage of the breakfast included in the room and one morning ordered room service. This was the ultimate spoiling feast with fruit salad, homemade pastries and a rather foamy cappuccino.
