St Tropez

FullSizeRender-11.jpg

I have been coming here all my life so as you can imagine this is a long list with some old and some new.  I love this little corner of the south of France and I can't think of a better place for a holiday.  It really does have everything you could dream of and wherever I go in the world I always find myself coming back to Port Griamud which is where we have a house (just 5 minutes from St Tropez).  Mais oui!

Le Club 55

I owe so much to this wonderful restaurant.  It has inspired my work and has been a memorable place to come with my family filled with countless good times.  The food is unfussy and classic and many of the vegetables are grown on their organic farm.  It's worth having the famous Panier de Crudités with the delicious anchoiade mayonnaise.  I also love the whole artichokes and roast chicken.  You need to book this one at least a week in advance and you can go early and book mattresses and hangout at the beach.

Cafe De L'Ormeau

Time has not touched this amazing rundown coffee bar in Ramatuelle since the 50's (it seems)..  I usually come here for breakfast.  First you wander over to the Tarte Tropezienne bakery across the street to grab your croissants and then order a petit dejeuner complet at L'Ormeau.  Don't ask why they don't just buy the croissants themselves, they never have done.  I usually cycle up the hill with my dad and sister which is quite a challenge and then this breakfast makes all the pain totally worth it.

Senequier

I worked in the bakery here one summer and it truly does make one of the best versions of the Tarte Tropezienne around.  You can sit in the front and people watch in the afternoon.  If you're buying pastries then I suggest going to the old school bakery round the back.  The nougat is also pretty famous and I have tried to recreate a similar recipe based on this place in my cookbook.

La Pesquiere

Situated in St Tropez's old town this serves up moules marineres, calamari, ratatouille, aubergines aux tomates and a lovely classic spaghetti Bolognese.  You come here for the lovely setting that is always buzzing.  I love it because you can see the bay of St Tropez from a different corner of the town.  It is next to La Ponche hotel which is one of the oldest hotels in the town, definitely worth checking out.  I mention both places in my cookbook NINA St Tropez!

L'Auberge De La Mole

In the small town of La Mole (20 minutes from St Tropez) this is a wonderful rustic-style restaurant that I speak about in my book NINA St Tropez.  This offers amazing provencal food with a reasonably priced set menu of more courses that you can manage.  The pates and desserts are enough reason to come.  Make sure you book in advance as it gets very busy.

La Tropezina

I only found out about this beach restaurant last year although it has been going for quite some time. It is probably one of the closest to St Tropez on the Pampelonne stretch and everything is covered in white. I went there with my sister, brother-in-law and my nephew and niece, Phoenix and Ines. We particularly loved the signature dish of Provencal ravioli with spinach in a wonderfully cheesey, creamy sauce. It was reasonably priced with friendly service.

Les Graniers

One of the most beautiful and secluded beaches situated right behind the St Tropez citadel. You can access the little beach by boat or on foot and enjoy a sunny lunch on the beach. This is one that I mentioned in my St Tropez book many times and since the book it has changed hands and has a Spanish fusion running through the food.  The cuisine is actually better than before so you must check it out for a dreamy lunch!

La Forge

Another great place in Ramatuelle is La Forge and it is a family run restaurant creating beautiful Italian dishes in a dreamy setting on the hill.  The food is pretty good and has a modern feel without being too fancy and pretentious.  I only found it this year and made time to go twice!  A greta date place too!  I highly recommend their signature carbonara and the tuna when they catch it is divine!

La Table Du Mareyeur

This is one of my favourite places because I used to go here with my Polish grandmother. She loved everything about it and used to take my sister and I when we came for holidays. She was a huge fan of seafood and they do some amazing platters of lobster, langoustine, prawns, mussels and oysters. It is owned by a lovely English family and service is always warm and friendly. Situated 10-15 minutes out for St Tropez in the little village of Port Grimaud which is where I live when I'm out here.

This is such a stunning hotel and the restaurant is even better!  La Reserve was a new find for me this year and I will definitely be back.  I went for their lunch menu which is modern provencal and then they have a more fancy michelin star menu for the evening.  Produce is all locally sourced and incredible!  This is worth a treat for meal!  (please see full review here)

Indie Beach

This is quite a cool hangout and it's only been around since last year.  The guys that run it used to work in Soho House and so have brought over some of the cocktail knowledge that they learn in London to this far corner of the Pampelonne beach.  They serve some enticing looking steaks for lunch and you must sip a cocktail in one of their hanging wicker chairs while getting a moment away from the hot beach.

Bello Visto

Gassin is famous for it's incredible views and this is one of my favourites in the town.  There is something so magical about the walk up to the restaurants as it takes me back to when I was little and would arrive after the winding car journey up the hill ready for my supper.  The view looks back onto the bay of St Tropez which in the summer months is filled with boats.  This restaurant is also a hotel and it has quite a reasonable menu with some great provencal food.  You can also have a after-dinner drink in the little bar next to the restaurant.  Service is amazing too!
